Ok, just though I'd inform you guys that we can play Killing Floor for free all weekend. Anyone going to be on steam that wants to start a game?

Also, I thought I really shouldn't just make a topic to tell you guys that, so what do you guys like about this game? Dislike? I really don't like the fact that it's only player v cpu, and not player v player, but besides that, I really like it. Also, Tripwire* added new weapons to this game. I'm going to check 'em out this weekend.

*EDIT: The developer is Tripwire Interactive, not VALVe, which I had posted first.

I'm glad you posted this.  I've been wanting to try that game out as well.  Is it a Friday threw Sunday free Trial?

Thanks for letting us know.

Ok, I know a lot of people don't like this game. That's totally cool. I have no problem with that. But keep in mind that Tripwire Interactive is an indie company. Not some huge company like VALVe. So just remember that, and you might like the game a little more. Grin

Anyway, my favorite part of this game is the part that most people hate: the fact that the game is a glorified survival mode. I really like this game. It has a different feeling than L4D, and I actually like how you have to run to the trader every round. It makes it so you can't camp the same spot all the time, because your favorite camping spot might be 150 meters away. I also kinda' like the different perks. They make it so that if you're good at getting headshots with pistols, you get rewarded.

The ONE THING I don't like about it is that there is only one boss infected. But they might add a new one, so that's cool. What's your guys' opinions of the game?

Yes, I'm a silly stream of consciousness.

In my opinion, there should be a kind of Solo Mode for KL, because then you could get the feeling of being the Punisher without breezing through the map (easy) or getting your butt handed to you (medium).

I think having no crosshairs is a nice touch, though.

Well, my kind Sir, there certainly is a solo mode. Did you just not see it on the start-up menu, or are you talking about something else?

I also like the no-crosshair thing. Gives it a little extra challenge.

So I played the free weekend and Here is my thoughts on it.

Good things:
Leveling in weapons is okay
being able to use the welders to weld doors and gates shut was a neat Idea.

Bad Things
Game play sucks
look/feel of it sucked
Zombies sucked
Gore looked bad
All modes being basically Surviver mode, where as you run around in a tight city block.
The trader was lame.  What was she doing, paying people for zombie hides?
Overall I'd give it a 4 out of 10.

Thats just my opinion though, the rest of the world may love it.  I thought it was no good compared to L4D

You should try the new version.  Weird that the free weekend was BEFORE the new version came out.

By new version, do you mean with all the new stuff, like the Husk, Demoman perk, and the new maps? Because that stuff sure was in KF when I played it. Undecided And another thing that confused me was the Trader. Like, how the heck does she move so fast without getting killed by zombies? And why doesn't she just give her weapons away? But it's all for balence, so I guess it's the best they could do. But I do think it's a nice game though. Grin

Try not to think of it as a left 4 dead scenario where you are fighting for your freedom.  Instead think of it as you are a military unit sent in to clean up the mess.

Yeah the feel and Look just didn't do it for me.  Reminded me of Hell Gate London for some reason.  I just didn't feel like I was popping zombies. Maybe it was just to arcade for me.  like the Timer, getting cash for kills, Trader, kill count till next level, leveling weapons, buying ammo.  All that made it feel just kinda like a cheap thrill, nothing to deep ya know?

Well, everyones got thier preferenses. Undecided Oh well. And what is this Hell Gate London, by chance?

EDIT: I just remembered somethin'. There is a mutator in game that can disable the Trader, thus making the game a bit more to the way you're talkin' 'bout. I'll try this out and report the diferences on Friday.

EDIT TO EDIT: Ok, a mutator is something that changes the game. Like you can make the game just the one-hit-kill zombies, or you could make it all huge-fleshpounds (giant dudes with clubs for arms). Thought I might add that to avoide confusion.  Grin

Hellgate London: Story

"London: 2038. In a time when man had become dependent on science, believing only in what he could define or create, ancient knowledge and rituals were lost to the antiquity of time. Prophecies that had stood as warning for untold generations were seen as archaic folly or ignorant superstition. It was then, at mankind's weakest moment, the demons came. Their brute force and overwhelming numbers swept the globe with little trouble. Mankind was forced underground, scavenging to survive. Now, 18 years after the demonic invasion of 2020, in the winding tunnels of the London underground, a new Alliance is forming to battle the hordes of hell that have destroyed London. Templar Knights, Arcane Cabalists and Demon Hunters are uniting in mankind's Alliance. Join them, push the demons back to hell, and reclaim the surface."

I actually enjoyed that game.  You bought the game and it had co-op play built in, but they tried to sell you the expansions as a monthly fee, which was dum.  So they flopped and eventually couldn't afford to keep up their online multiplayer servers.

They had one of the best intro movies ever created.  I would have gone to the theater to see a continuation of that.

Dragon. That. Was. EPIC!!! It looks really good. The church part reminds me of the church in Killing Floor. Why don't you like this game G?

Well Hell Gate London was an Okay game, I'm not trying to knock it.  Killing floor I guess is just not my style so I'll leave it at that.  No sense bashing a game that everyone loves, or at least a game that you guys love.
